Mass Communication students at CIC presented an outstanding graduation project titled El Nadaha, a documentary exploring the cultural significance of the Simsemya instrument in Port Said.
The project sheds light on the instrument’s deep connection to maritime professions, illustrating how sailors have used its melodies to express their emotions and seafaring experiences. It also traces its historic role during the British occupation, when patriotic songs became a form of resistance and unity.
El Nadaha further highlights local initiatives to preserve this unique musical heritage for future generations.
The documentary was academically reviewed by Dr. Shanon Landers from Cape Breton University (CBU), adding valuable scholarly insight and support. Through such creative work, CIC students continue to demonstrate their skills in documentation and storytelling, contributing to the preservation of Egypt’s cultural identity.
